
How I work
I’m Acelin Berthelot, a systems designer and programmer interested in how rules, code, and feedback combine to shape the way a game feels.
I enjoy taking an idea apart, understanding the relationships within it, and rebuilding it as a system that can be clearly implemented, tested, and improved.
My work usually sits between design and development.
I map system behaviour and dependencies, implement gameplay features in Unity and C#, and investigate the performance or stability problems that emerge when those features interact with the wider project.
I have worked on movement systems, systemic interactions, optimisation, and interfaces that communicate information without interrupting play.
Player experience is what connects those technical and design decisions.
A system can function correctly and still feel unclear, unresponsive, or disconnected from the rest of the game.
I use prototypes, playtesting, observation, and structured feedback to evaluate how a system performs in practice, not only whether it works.
In collaborative projects, I tend to focus on the connections between features and disciplines rather than treating each contribution in isolation.
This portfolio documents that process through design artefacts, implementation evidence, and reflections on what changed throughout development.
